CASPA is the Coursework and Assessment Scheduler for Programme Administration developed by CEDE (Centre for Engineering and Design Education). The system can be accessed on and off campus and allows staff to schedule any type of module assessment including physical, virtual (Learn/TurnItIn), performance, presentation, examination, laboratory, workshop etc. Students can use CASPA to view their assessment schedule, record physical submissions at a CASPA kiosk and view their record of work submitted and returned to them.
CASPA is now being used by all four CEDE Schools (Wolfson, CBE, AACME, and Design School) and the School of Science. Support has been given to each of these schools including the rolling-over of last year's assessment data and meeting with key users on a one-to-one basis to provide support as necessary.
CASPA has undergone some significant enhancements during 2015. The user interface has been enhanced and includes additional features for filtering information. Two key enhancements have been added to facilitate assessments with staggered deadlines and to gather assessment information from Learn/TurnItIn regarding virtual assessments. A pdf document has been created for each of these features to serve as help guides (downloadable from the CASPA website).
The three existing quick CASPA overview, staff guide and student guide have been updated to reflect the latest version of CASPA and they are downloadable from the CASPA website.
Additionally, two surveys have been carried out this academic year to gain a perspective on the usability and further requirements for CASPA from both a staff and a student perspective. This has comprised initial meetings and a small survey of student and administrative users to help inform system development.
